Deleting Viruses In Hkey Registry?

Posted on 24th February 2010

So I had to clean out my friends computer, and used Malwarebytes Anti Malware, it found quite a bit and now I’m ready to delete them. There’s a few that have infected “Registry Key” “HKEY local Machine”, is it safe to delete those?? The Virus is a Trojan.Vundo.H, so lots of pop ups. Also once I’m finished cleaning I wanted to add Firefox just because I’ve heard it’s much better than Explorer, good move or bad move?

Posted on 10th February 2010

Ok im more than computer litterate so thats not a problem.
However Windows OneCare has found 3 major trojans.
Win32/Vundo.gen!E
Win32/Vundo.gen!H
Win32/Vundo.gen!G
Norton 360 missed them, Search and Destroy cant find 2 of them and Adaware dosent see them.
Onecare sees them but cant remove them it only Quarantines them an they still do damage.
I cant use many web pages it takes ages to load anything so i was lucky i could get on here. An i get bombarded with popups of all kinds. Adult dating, shopping, compos everything you name it.
Does anyone know of any tools or a way to get rid of all 3 of these once and for all im sick of them an they need to be gone.
The second problem is because of Vundo is there its opening my computer like a can an i keep getting trackers and other viruses and spyware which can be removed.

I Have The Vundo Trojan?

Posted on 3rd February 2010

I know I have it and it was disabling Malwarebytes because it would delete mbam.exe. So I went onto another computer and took it off there and renamed it explorer.exe. Then I got Malwarebytes running again and scanned my computer. It found Trojan.Vundo and Trojan.Vundo.H (among a few other things). Anyway, so after I scan it and then put all of those things in quarantine, I try to scan my computer with Trend Micro Antivirus (which I just scanned with with last, last night). Now it’s saying Last Scan: Not Yet Scanned. But that’s not right at all since I just used it yesterday. So now I know the problem isn’t fixed. I tried scanning my computer and it pops up like it’s starting to scan and quickly disappears within 2 seconds. So whatever I have, isn’t completely gone and it’s now disabling my Antivirus. Now I need help because I don’t know what to do next. Any advice is greatly appreciate.

Vundo, It’s Many Faces and How to Get Rid of it

Posted on 20th January 2010

The Vundo virus is known by a couple names(Vundo, Vundo Trojan, VirtuMonde and VirtuMundo). This virus is a Trojan, which in some cases can mean that you are dealing with spyware as well and in this case that is true more in the sense that this virus tries to get you to buy something to remove itself. Below is a list of the programs that it likes to disguise itself as.

- WinAntivirus Pro

- Sysprotect

- WinFixer

- ULWindowSeek

- ULWindowURL

- SystemDoctor

- SuperMWindow

As this virus is constantly changing you may have something different popping up asking you the same questions. How do you get a virus like this, well it is easy. It infects victims’ computers by exploiting a vulnerability in Sun Java 1. 4 and earlier versions. There is also a vunlerability in IE that may cause this virus to manifest itself. So make sure that you do your windows updates and that you have only the newer version of java installed(make sure you remove the older version as well). These are both extremely important as there are alot of viruses that come through when your computer is not up to date.

Most Antivirus software will be able to detect that the virus exixts on your machine but will unable to remove this virus. So how would you go about removing this software, well there are a couple of free tools out there. Symantec has a removal tool which works alot of the time. Then there is the VundoFix from atribune. org. That one seems to be the most comprehensive one with 3 different detection types to make sure that you find where it has placed itself on your computer and to get those files removed. I would recomend that you run these tools in safemode as that will increase the likelyhood of them being effective as there will be only windows proccesses running so less to get in the way of a successful removal.

Remember as with most viruses these can be avoided by making sure that you are up to date with all your installed software. Any way you look at it this virus is a nasty one and can take some time to get rid of, but if you use some removal tools then you will be able to avoid that dreaded format.

How to Get Rid of Trojan Vundo

Posted on 30th December 2009

Trojan Vundo is a trojan horse that disguises itself as a . exe program. You may have downloaded it from MIRC, email attachment, or a program that looked like another you were searching for. Once the . exe file is executed, you would have installed this trojan

The following symptom will be displayed on your computer:

You will experience multiple pop up advertisements on your Internet Explorer browser every time you surf the web. The reason you know it is Trojan Vundo probably is because your current anti virus detected it. I was running Norton which detected the trojan on my computer but was unable to quarantine or delete the file.

Norton is the standard for PC protection for most computers and I can’t say exactly why it was able to detect but not remove Trojan Vundo, even after each reboot.

Trojan Vundo has many variants and one needs an updated trojan database that is able to detect and remove the newest signatures. Some forums suggest a manual way of accessing the computer’s trojan scan log, but that might be too technical. I was looking for a way to remove Trojan Vundo using a simple Trojan Removal Software.

So what I did was to get the latest Trojan Removal tool in the market that also offered live technical support in case the pop ups continued. So if you have Trojan Vundo on your computer and your current anti virus tool is not working, you may need to use a focused trojan removal tool to resolve your problem.

Vundo.dll Needs to be Removed at Once

Posted on 23rd December 2009

Vundo. dll is part of the Vundo and Virtumonde family of Trojans. This spyware is a rouge trojan and very bad stuff. If you are infected with vundo. dll then you need to remove it ASAP. This program goes out and downloads other malicious software onto your system. Common symptoms include a fake anti-virus program being installed onto your system, your home page being highjacked and a ton of pop-ups.

In order to remove this threat you have a few different choices. You can always just pay for someone to repair your system. The cost will vary but a few hundred bucks is not out of the question. This bad boy is hard to remove so it will cost you to have a pro do it. Online computer repair companies can remove it for a lot cheaper but your still looking to spend about 89 bucks on that.

Alternatively you can use a product like Spyware Doctor to remove this threat. Spyware Doctor can remove Vundo. dll from your system. You need to run the scan in safe mode in order to fully remove it but it does work.

A special free tool has been developed called Vundofix that works about 40% of the time at removing this threat. However most people find themselves infected again as soon as they reboot because Vundofix does not remove the other spyware programs and once you re-boot you re infected again. Vundofix does not offer active protection so that is why I don?t even bother using this tool anymore.

Many people wonder how they got infected in the first place. The reason is two fold. The first is you did not have proper protection. If you have a good anti-spyware program you would not of been infected. Most of the time systems get infected via a fake video codec like Zlob Codec. In a nut shell the user goes to a website and they are asked to install a video codec to watch the video. Once the user clicks on the image the fake codec downloads and installs. If you had Spyware Doctor the installation would be blocked. Because you did not have enough protection the spyware was not blocked and you became infected. Now the trick here is often times the user has no idea until after they reboot. Only then does this program go out and download the other spyware software. From there you have nothing but a slow computer and a ton of pop-ups.
